Ken Warburton

Consultant, Dunedin

B.Arch, University of Auckland

Registered Architect

Fellow NZ Institute of Architects

Ken is known for his experience and expertise in client liaison, consultant co-ordination, site-development, feasibility studies, practice management and project management. His specialist areas include educational, religious and leisure-industry architecture, as well as the design and construction of science and technology facilities.

Since 2010, Ken has been a consultant for Team Architects’ Dunedin studio. Prior to this he was the studio’s director, a position he had held since 1984. Ken developed the practice into a national leader in the use of computer-aided design technology.

He has used his years of accumulated design and construction knowledge to assist many local clients, government departments and SEOs. Among these larger organisations are the New Zealand Police, New Zealand Income Support Service, and ECNZ (Electrocorp NZ Ltd).

Ken is highly adept at translating his clients’ requirements into a built structure that exceeds their expectations for quality and functionality, and is delivered on time and to budget.

His more notable projects include the redevelopment of the historic junior high school block at Waitaki Girls’ High School; the proposed $25m redevelopment of the former Dunedin Chief Post Office into a 4-star Hotel; the $11m Otago University Physics Department Building; and the Otago Polytechnic redevelopment.
