We feel humbled and privileged at TEAM to have won a recent design competition for a civic project. The judges described our bi-cultural response for the competition as “a catalytic solution” to the revitalisation of a provincial New Zealand town.
TEAM Architects’ Auckland and Palmerston North studios were selected in a two-stage competition, to design a new community facility and council offices for a District Council in the lower North Island.
TEAM submitted the winning entry against larger, highly accomplished practice competitors. The design exposes the positive Edwardian era heritage fabric of the district, interwoven with Tikanga Māori principles and building science.
