The Methven Heritage Centre project utilises the existing Mt Hutt Memorial Hall built in 1957 and creates a new focus for the town and community.
The Mt Hutt Memorial Hall was transformed into a building for all seasons, complete with a new Information Centre for Methven and an upgrade of theexisting hall and function spaces making them suitable for live performance and conferences. A series of new buildings were built adjoining the eastern side of the existing hall to house the Snow and Grain Heritage experience Museum as well as an 80 seat cinema and learning facilities. Materials were kept simple but strong to connect with the alpine and rural traditions. The overall planning was carefully considered to allow maximum flexibility and multiplicity of use.
